How am I preparing to serve a mission?

How I'm preparing to serve a mission

A mission is about inviting others to come to Christ, as I read and study the scriptures I grow spiritually, and come to know my savior a lot more.

My service and knowledge is not just for me to know but also for those who I will be sharing it with.

Reading and carefully pondering the scriptures, I realize the kind of daughter my heavenly father wants me to be. It is also a great way to feel and to receive the Holy Spirit, to learn from it and having it testify the truth of the scriptures.

The better I prepare now, the better it is when I go on my mission.(D&C 11:21)

At times we talk about a certain subject in the class or at home and it's pretty cool that an experience or teaching we discuss gets me thinking about an expierance that someone in the book of mormon had, like, Nephi, Lehi, Alma,Mosiah and all the others. Then i remember what heavenly father wanted them to learn, thanks to those experiences I'll be able to help someone who is going through something thats similar to what they went to, even though I didn't go through it, they will learn from the actions and obidence the prophets had for our heavenly father.

Learning to appreciate the sacrament. As i partake of the sacrament, I really think about my heavenly father's love for me because he sent his only son to save us. Also, to start off every new week by keeping my covenants and become more like Christ.

Preparing myself for the temple to receive my endowment.

Learning and coming to understand that the temple is the house of the Lord that the things we do there in the temple have eternal significance and that it is a gift for God. As president Brigham Young said "your endowment is, to receive all these ordinances in the house of the Lord which are necessary for you, after you have departed this life to enable to walk back to the presence of the father, passing the Angels who stand as Sentinels... and gain your exaltation."

I am also learning to keep myself in good health. (Alma 53:20)

even though sometimes it's a little hard to get up early and go exersice for an hour or maybe even 30 min. I have gotten away with not going for a few days but thankfully my family is full of very active people and motivate me, but I have to motivate myself because they won't be there when I leave. With that I am preparing myself by maintaining a healthy nutrition and also learning how to cook simple meals. By doing all of this, it will help me stay active and in condition ready to serve. Donald B. Doty said "a missionary must be able to walk an average of 6 miles and ride a bicycle 12 miles per day."

As i prepare to go on a mission, I stop and realize that the oppurtunity is close, months close. Every single time I ask someone who Is either on their mission or has served one, "How were you prepared? How can I be totally ready to serve those who need to hear the gospel?" Their response is, you never are totally ready, but slowly you start to see that what you learned before you serve a mission, it comes to you by the holy ghost, and by doing each of these things, I will have the holy ghost with me all the time on my mission, To testify of the truth of this gospel and the blessings it brings.
